Poor-Vascular-Development on pothos
What's Happening
Ethinyl estradiol at 0.1 ppm stimulates neovascularization in pothos midrib and petiole through potential estrogen/progesterone receptor activation in vascular cambium meristematic cells, increasing vascular bundle formation to support enhanced biomass
How to Fix It
- 1
1. Apply 0.1 ppm ethinyl estradiol drenching treatment at 200-day growth stage
- 2
2. Expect 150% increase in midrib vascular bundles (15 vs 6 in control) and 118% increase in petiole bundles (48 vs 22)
- 3
3. Cross-sectional area of midrib increases 256% and petiole increases 174% to accommodate larger vascular infrastructure
How to Prevent It
Begin hormone treatment early in vegetative stage to allow sufficient time for vascular cambium differentiation and vascular bundle proliferation before maturity
