Monstera Has No Fenestrations? Fix Light, Maturity, and Support

Quick answer: A healthy Monstera deliciosa can produce solid leaves. Juvenile growth is naturally unfenestrated. A mature plant may also make smaller, solid leaves when usable light drops.

Decide whether the plant is juvenile

Do not use ownership time as the plant’s age. A young seedling and a mature top cutting can both spend one year in your home.

Support does not manufacture fenestrations by itself. It helps the plant keep a mature climbing form while adequate light supplies the energy for larger leaves.

Rule out the quiet growth limiters

Check these factors when light and support are already suitable:

  1. Root space: A severely root-bound plant may stop increasing leaf size. Repot only when roots densely circle the pot or block drainage.
